When Is TGL Golf Starting?
Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods revealed the plans, for their golf league that will take place on Monday nights.
The league is scheduled to kick off on January 9th, 2024. It will feature 15 of the top 20 players in the world including Justin Thomas. McIlroy and Woods will oversee the golf league through their sports technology company, TMRW Sports, which they launched last year.
The format of TGL involves six teams, each representing cities. The matches will follow a format with two clubs competing against each other every game week. The games will be held at Palm Beach State College’s SoFi Centre, a custom-built arena accommodating up to 1,600 spectators.
Players will begin by driving into a golf simulator before transitioning to nine designed fairways and green complexes known as the green zone. These areas will utilize grass for an experience.
The first nine holes of each match will be played in a shot format before transitioning to head-to-head matchups for the back nine. The team that accumulates the most points during the match will emerge victorious with the four teams advancing to the semi-finals.
Fans can catch all the action as each two-hour match is broadcast live, on ESPN in the United States. Details regarding a UK-based screening are yet to be announced but Sky Sports are sure to be a frontrunner.
